Kenosha County
4-H Projects
The
purpose of 4-H projects is to teach 4-H members life skills.
This includes tangible skills like decorating a cake, fishing,
or taking a picture. It also includes the intangible such
as leadership, communication, teamwork, and organization.
Kenosha
County 4-H offers 58 different projects for our members to
participate in. There is a project for just about any interest!
Members are expected to work on their projects throughout
the year on their own, with their family, or with the help
of a 4-H leader. If they like the results of their hard work,
they are encouraged to do a demonstration at their club or
display it at the Kenosha County Fair or both!
1st
and 2nd graders are called Cloverbuds, and they can only sign
up for the Cloverbud project. 3rd graders are called Explorers,
and they may sign up for Explorers and one other project of
their choice. Members 4th grade and older may sign up for
as many projects as they and their families are comfortable
with.*

Some of these projects
have countywide leaders, some have club leaders, and some will
be independent study. For a list
of the countywide projects is available here. For information on
what projects a particular club has leaders for, please contact
a General Leader. For more information
about a particular project or on how to become a project leader,
please contact the Kenosha County UW-Extension Office.
*It is recommended
that the number of projects any 4-H member takes equals the
number of years he/she has been in 4-H. It is also recommended
that the number of projects not exceed five, no matter how long
a youth has been a 4-H member. Please also note that some projects
have their own age requirements.
**The Self-Determined
project is for those who are interested in something which doesn't
fit into the rest of the project areas.
